Yes — smart chargers with RFID or app billing let tenants pay per kWh. Nexgen configures Monta billing on install.

We assess your existing LV infrastructure and upgrade if needed. Load management software prevents overload without costly grid reinforcement.
Is VAT charged on the grant?
No — grant amounts are VAT-free. Installation costs attract 5% VAT for residential properties.

The Permission Process

Write to your landlord formally
Use recorded post or email with read-receipt. Reference the EV Chargepoint Grant Regulations 2023.

Include a quote from an OZEV-approved installer
Nexgen provides free written quotes. The quote must reference the grant scheme and estimated timeline.

Await written consent
Landlords must respond within 28 days under the 2023 regulations. Silence is not consent — chase after 14 days if no reply.

Apply to OZEV with consent letter attached
Submit online via the gov.uk portal. The consent letter must be on headed paper or signed email.

Book installation once approved
You have 6 months from approval to complete installation. Coordinate with Nexgen to schedule at your convenience.

Keep records for 5 years
Retain all correspondence, approval letters, and installation certificates. OZEV or local authority spot-checks may request documentation.
Your Legal Rights
Under the EV Chargepoint Grant Regulations 2023, landlords of residential properties cannot unreasonably withhold consent for EV charger installation. If your landlord refuses without good reason, you may escalate to the First-tier Tribunal. Nexgen can provide supporting technical documentation for any tribunal submission.

EV INSTALLATION
Rapid Deployment Across 7 Bays
Nexgen installed 7 Rolec WC22 7kW chargers across the Capitol Building's multi-storey car park in under 3 weeks. Each bay required individual trunking runs back to a dedicated sub-distribution board on each floor. Our project manager coordinated directly with the building facilities team to minimise disruption during trading hours. All bays went live simultaneously on completion day, with Monta smart charging activated remotely.
LV INFRASTRUCTURE
400A Substation Upgrade
The project required a full LV infrastructure assessment before any charger installation could begin. We identified that the existing 200A supply was insufficient and designed a 400A upgrade in collaboration with the DNO. The new substation feeds three dedicated EV distribution boards, each with load management to prevent grid peaks. This future-proofs the site for up to 120 charging bays as demand grows.
LOGISTICS
Crane-Lifted Kiosk Delivery
The Proteus kiosk housing the distribution boards required crane delivery to the fourth-floor mechanical plant room. Nexgen coordinated a 6-hour Sunday morning road closure with Bracknell Forest Council for safe crane operation. All equipment was pre-assembled off-site to minimise on-site time and disruption to tenants. The kiosk was fully wired and operational within 4 hours of delivery.
