When a full kitchen renovation called for new electrics from the ground up, the homeowner needed an electrician who could work in step with the builders — running first-fix cables before the walls were plastered, returning once the kitchen was fitted, and dealing with whatever the existing wiring threw up. Arthur Blackwell delivered exactly that: a systematic two-phase rewire that brought the property up to standard and wired every appliance to its own dedicated circuit.
The kitchen renovation required a complete electrical strip-out and rebuild. Eight appliances — induction hob, top and bottom ovens, extractor hood, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, and wine fridge — each needed a dedicated circuit. The scope also included recessed LED downlights throughout the kitchen ceiling, under-cupboard lighting, and two new wall lights on the extension facade.
Working in sequence with the building contractor, Nexgen completed first-fix cabling in March 2026 before the walls were plastered — labelling every appliance position so builders preserved the correct knockout positions. Six non-compliant joints were identified and re-made to BS 7671 before the walls were closed. Second-fix and consumer unit installation followed in May.

The non-compliant joints were re-made on the same visit — keeping the programme intact. Second-fix followed once the kitchen was installed: consumer unit replacement, all appliance spur connections, lighting circuits energised, and all circuits tested and signed off.
